Students at Edna Louise Spear Elementary School had an electrifying experience as they participated in PSEG’s Touch-A-Truck Program, immersing themselves in the world of utility vehicles and safety protocols.

“We are thrilled to partner with PSEG Long Island to bring this enriching learning experience to our students,” said Amy Laverty, Principal of Edna Louise Spear Elementary. “The Touch-A-Truck Program sparks student curiosity and valuable lessons about safety and the vital work performed by utility companies like PSEG Long Island.”

Third graders were equipped with plastic hard hats and protective eyewear as they delved into the interactive program PSEG Long Island facilitated. Touch-A-Truck offers an engaging and educational opportunity for students to get an up-close look at a real PSEG Long Island bucket truck, guided by a trained professional in full gear.

During the presentation, students had the opportunity to explore the inner workings of the bucket truck, gaining insight into its functionality, utility, and safety features. Through hands-on demonstrations and interactive discussions, students learned about these vehicles' essential roles in maintaining the power grid and ensuring reliable electricity supply to communities.

Safety was paramount throughout the event, with the trained professional emphasizing the importance of preventive measures and best practices when working with utility vehicles and equipment. The session concluded with a lively question-and-answer session, allowing students to further deepen their understanding of the technology and safety procedures involved.
