The Port Jefferson’s Earl L. Vandermeulen High School robotics team proudly participated in the annual Maker Faire, which was held at the Port Jefferson Village Center, joining a celebration of creativity and innovation. The event served as a platform for the team to showcase their robot's capabilities and promote awareness of the First Robotics program.

With a commitment to community engagement and educational outreach, the robotics team volunteered their time and expertise to inspire fellow students and community members. Their participation allowed students to delve into the dynamic world of robotics, fostering excitement and interest in STEM fields.

Our purpose at the Maker Faire was twofold: to demonstrate the incredible capabilities of our robot and to share valuable information about the First Robotics program, said Brian Chalmers, Earl L. Vandermeulen High School’s Technology and Engineering teacher. We believe in the power of hands-on learning and collaboration, and events like these allow us to spread that message far and wide.

Throughout the day, students captivated attendees with live demonstrations of their robots in action. Interacting with other high school robotics teams from across Long Island, the Earl L. Vandermeulen High School robotics team showcased teamwork, innovation, and technical skills.

The students put on an awesome display, not only demonstrating the capabilities of our robot but also engaging with peers from other schools, added John Ruggero, Principal of Earl L. Vandermeulen High School. It was inspiring to see the enthusiasm and passion for robotics shared among students from different communities.
