The communities of Earl L. Vandermeulen High School and Port Jefferson Middle School were honored to host a visit from ALS Ride for Life, a momentous occasion that brought together students, faculty, and community members in a powerful display of support and solidarity.

The event, which took place recently, saw students from Port Jefferson Middle School leading the way for the ALS riders with pride, holding high an ALS Ride for Life banner as a symbol of their commitment to the cause. As the riders made their way through the campuses, they were met with cheers and applause from their peers and members of the community, who lined the sidewalks holding signs and banners they had crafted themselves, brimming with messages of encouragement and hope.

Following the procession, students and attendees gathered to hear from the ALS riders themselves, listening intently as they shared their stories and experiences. The speakers' words served as a poignant reminder of the importance of raising awareness for ALS and supporting those who are affected by it.

We are incredibly grateful to ALS Ride for Life for bringing their message of hope and perseverance to our schools, said Jessica Schmettan, Superintendent of Schools. Events such as these raise awareness for ALS and inspire our students to make a positive difference in the world around them.

The visit from ALS Ride for Life served as a reminder of the power of community and compassion in the face of adversity. By coming together to support each other and those affected by ALS, students and community members of Earl L.
