Port Jefferson Middle School’s 8th graders recently showcased their athleticism and camaraderie during a highly anticipated annual field day event. The event, organized by the school’s faculty and staff, aimed to celebrate the students' achievements and foster a sense of teamwork as they prepare to transition to high school.

The highlight of the day was the spirited competition among the students, who were divided into four teams, each representing their unique identity and school spirit. The teams enthusiastically participated in a series of relay races and capture-the-flag activities, demonstrating not only their physical prowess but also their strategic thinking and collaboration skills.

Field Day is a wonderful tradition at Port Jefferson Middle School where our 8th graders come together to celebrate their time here and showcase their talents,” said Principal Brian Walker. “It's more than just a day of games; it's about building friendships, supporting one another, and creating lasting memories.

The event only provided an opportunity for friendly competition and emphasized the importance of sportsmanship and teamwork among the students. Teachers and staff members cheered on the participants, encouraging them to do their best and enjoy the day.

As the school year comes to a close, events such as field day play a crucial role in the student's social and emotional development, reinforcing the values of perseverance, respect, and collaboration that are integral to the school's mission.
