Port Jefferson’s Earl L. Vandermeulen High School students recently embarked on a fascinating field trip to National Grid Venture’s power generation station, located in Port Jefferson. The purpose of the trip was to provide students with a firsthand look at the skills, jobs, and facilities involved in supplying electricity to homes and businesses in the area.

“The field trip was a valuable opportunity for our students, as it allowed them to gain practical knowledge and insights into critical infrastructure that powers our community,” said John Ruggero, Principal of Earl L. Vandermeulen High School.
“By interacting with industry professionals and learning about the diverse career opportunities available, our students become better equipped to make informed decisions about their future career paths. Thank you to National Grid Ventures for hosting this awesome field trip for our students.”

During the field trip, students had the opportunity to engage with recruiting representatives from the power generation company. They learned about the job application process and explored various positions that align with their skill sets, offering potential career pathways.

More than 40 students from Earl L. Vandermeulen High School participated in the power station tour in Port Jefferson as part of Engineers Week. This experience exposed the students to the inner workings of power generation and allowed them to envision themselves pursuing rewarding careers in the industry.
