Resident pupils of the Port Jefferson Union Free School District #6 scheduled
to attend or continue to attend or anticipate attending private or parochial schools are entitled to bus transportation in accordance with distance limitations provided for public school students and if the distance from the home to the private or parochial school is not greater than 15 miles.
To apply for transportation for the 2013-2014 school year to a private or parochial school a request for transportation form must be received by the district’s transportation office no later than April 1, 2013. This transportation request form must, by law, be submitted each year. A separate form must be filed for each child. If, after applying, you wish to change the school which you had originally requested transportation you must cancel your previous request and submit another request for transportation by the April 1 deadline.
This form needs to be filled out for children attending after-care at the Port Jefferson Village Center.

Bus transportation has been authorized for all elementary pupils who live in the district. Information about a child's route and stop will be mailed prior to the beginning of the school year.
Bus transportation has been authorized for middle school and high school students who live in Belle Terre, on or east of Belle Terre Road, on or west of Beach Street, Brook Road, Dark Hollow Road and Sheep Pasture Road.
Buses leave the middle school/high school at approximately 4:05 pm and 5:15 pm. Buses leave the elementary school at 4:30 pm. Please note, late buses do not follow the regular dismissal routes. They make perimeter stops at corner intersections off a main road and children must walk to their home from there.
Temporarily Handicapped Students
Contact the Transportation Office at 791-4261 to arrange for transportation of a temporarily handicapped pupil. The school nurse must also be notified.
Specific questions regarding bus decorum, lost items, schedules, etc. should be referred to the appropriate building principal. Discipline problems are handled by the principals and parents are notified in cases of disciplinary action. Excessive violation of the rules of conduct may lead to a student's loss of bus privileges.
