Edna Louise Spear Elementary School celebrated the Halloween spirit with its annual Trunk or Treat event, bringing together students, families, and the community for a night of fun and festivity. The event took place in the school’s bus circle, with Principal Amy Laverty and Assistant Principal Brianne Antenucci leading the festivities alongside dedicated teachers and hosted by Earl L. Vandermeulen High School’s Varsity Club.

This year the Varsity Club decorated themed tables, creating a vibrant atmosphere for the elementary students as they drove through the bus circle, collecting candy and enjoying the festive decorations. From superheroes to classic monsters, students showcased their creativity and excitement in a variety of costumes, making the evening truly memorable.

“We had a fantastic turnout this year!” said Principal Laverty. “It’s wonderful to see our students so excited about their costumes and participating in this beloved tradition. The support from the Varsity Club and our dedicated staff made the event a huge success.”

The Trunk or Treat event not only provided a safe environment for children to celebrate Halloween but also fostered community spirit. Families enjoyed the chance to connect with school staff, reinforcing the strong bonds that make Edna Louise Spear Elementary School a special place for learning and growth.

In a lighthearted moment, Principal Laverty shared a fun surprise when she realized she had coordinated her costume with one of her students,  Michael, arriving as a taco. “I definitely didn’t plan to match, but it just added to the fun of the day!” she remarked.
