Freshmen and sophomores in Jonathan Maletta’s Living Environment Regents class investigated DNA replication during a lab session, using DNA models to synthesize a sequence of DNA called a gene.

“Students learned that humans possess a multitude of genes that code for the production of proteins (polypeptides), including enzymes and hormones,” said Maletta.

The lesson helped the students to better grasp concepts in gene sequencing and molecular biology.
