Port Jefferson Fishing Club Explores Local Aquatic Ecosystem

The Port Jefferson fishing club participated in hands-on learning in the local ecosystem during a recent trip. Twenty-four middle school and high school students climbed aboard the vessel the Celtic Quest and disembarked from Port Jefferson Harbor to fish after school.

“Students caught a variety of species,” club advisor Greg Gorniok said. “These included black sea bass, porgies and bluefish.”

The Port Jefferson fishing club was established in 2019, providing students with the opportunity to engage with the local aquatic ecosystem and develop their fishing skills. The club has taken numerous local trips on the Celtic Quest.
