Earl L. Vandermeulen High School Earns Platinum Recognition on the 2025 AP School Honor Roll
The Port Jefferson School District is proud to announce that Earl L. Vandermeulen High School has earned Platinum distinction on the 2025 Advanced Placement (AP) School Honor Roll, the highest level of recognition awarded by the College Board.
The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools across four levels of distinction—Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze—based on student participation and performance on college-level AP exams administered by the College Board.
“Earning Platinum distinction is an outstanding achievement for Earl L. Vandermeulen High School,” said Dr. Robert Neidig, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. “Only 8 percent of schools across the United States and Canada receiving this recognition. The honor reflects the dedication of our students, teachers, counselors, and administrators, as well as our district’s commitment to providing students with meaningful access to rigorous academic opportunities that prepare them for success in college and beyond.”
Schools earning Platinum status must meet rigorous benchmarks demonstrating both access to and success in AP coursework. The criteria include:
• At least 80 percent of graduating seniors taking an AP Exam during high school
• At least 50 percent of graduating seniors earning a score of 3 or higher on at least one AP Exam
• At least 15 percent of graduating seniors taking five or more AP Exams, including at least one exam during ninth or tenth grade
This recognition highlights Earl L. Vandermeulen High School’s strong academic culture and ongoing commitment to challenging students through college-level learning opportunities while supporting their achievement and future readiness.
