Earl L. Vandermeulen High School and Port Jefferson Middle School Hosts Thriving Annual Club Fair

Earl L. Vandermeulen High School and Port Jefferson Middle School recently welcomed students from grades 6 to 12 to its highly anticipated Annual Club Fair. The event, held in the school’s gymnasium, showcased vibrant extracurricular opportunities for students to explore.

The fair featured dynamic booths set up by the club’s members and advisors representing some of the school’s most popular and engaging clubs, offering students a chance to dive into activities that pique their interests. Some of this year’s participants included:

* PJ Royal Volleyball: The volleyball team’s booth attracted budding athletes eager to learn about the sport and the benefits of teamwork and physical fitness. Coaches and team members were on hand to provide information and answer questions about the upcoming season and training.

* Science Olympiad Team: The Science Olympiad Team challenges students in various scientific disciplines, including biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, and environmental science. Teams from schools across the country compete in a series of hands-on, inquiry-based challenges, fostering collaboration, problem-solving, and critical thinking.

* Port Jefferson Cheerleading Team: With enthusiasm and spirit, the cheerleading team’s booth drew in students interested in cheer routines, stunts, and community-building activities. The team showcased their routines and discussed the ways cheerleading fosters school spirit and camaraderie.

* Drama Club: The drama club booth captivated students with a taste of the theatrical arts. Club members performed a few short scenes and provided insights into the various aspects of theater production, from acting and directing to stage design and costume creation.

* Royal Robotics Team: For those intrigued by technology and innovation, the Royal Robotics Team offered a hands-on experience with their latest robotic creations. Students learned about programming, engineering, and the exciting challenges that come with building and operating robots.

* Mathletes: A club for students who excel in and enjoy mathematics. Members participate in math competitions, solve challenging problems, and develop advanced mathematical skills.

* Academic Team: A competitive scholastic club where students participate in quiz bowl-style tournaments covering a wide range of academic subjects, including history, science, literature, and current events.

* Computer Science Club: Focuses on programming, software development, and computer theory. Members work on coding projects, learn new programming languages, and may participate in hackathons or coding competitions.

* Leo Service Club: A youth organization associated with Lions Clubs International. Members engage in community service projects, develop leadership skills, and promote volunteerism among young people.

* Environmental Science Club: Dedicated to promoting environmental awareness and sustainability. Members participate in local conservation projects, study ecological issues, and organize events to educate the school community about environmental topics.

* Fishing Club: A club for students interested in recreational fishing. Members learn about different fishing techniques, equipment, and local aquatic ecosystems. The club may organize fishing trips and participate in fishing competitions.

* Art Club: A creative space for students interested in visual arts. Members explore various art mediums, techniques, and styles. The club may organize art exhibitions, workshops, and collaborate on school beautification projects.
