Earl L. Vandermeulen High School freshman Jameson Roeber was lauded for his ambassadorship, involvement, performance and support of stand-up paddle boarding and was named the SUP Connect Grom of the Year award recipient. Jameson’s passion for the water and his sport started as a child when he stepped onto his mother’s paddle board and took to the waters of Port Jefferson. He won his first Grom a year later and has continued with races nationally, including winning or placing at The Carolina Cup, The Gorge Paddle Challenge, The NY APP, The Pacific Paddle Games and many other races.
“It is an honor to recognize Jameson, not only for his dedication to paddleboarding, but his enthusiasm and eagerness to help people and animals through his sport,” Principal Mr. John Ruggero said.
