We all know the basics in helping ourselves to live germ free – wash our hands, cover sneezes and coughs, keep our hands off our face, eat nutritious foods and get a good night’s sleep. With allergy and flu season here, first graders in Mrs. Kelly and Mrs. Lohmann’s class at Edna Louise Spear Elementary School are learning how to respect each other by staying germ free as much as possible.
Together they read Julia Cook’s award-winning “I Am a Booger, Treat Me with Respect,” a story that teaches about health and hygiene.
“We also showed a how-to video about the proper way to blow a nose,” Mrs. Lohmann said. “We then practiced the three steps all together. It was definitely a teaching moment for everyone. We had a ‘boogie woogie’ time doing it!”
