The Port Jefferson School District Board of Education’s December meeting was filled with the sounds of the season as student-musicians performed several holiday classics before being recognized for their contributions to the school and community during the holiday season.

Dr. Michael Caravello, Director of Music and Fine Arts, introduced music teachers Mr. Jeff Trelewicz and Mr. Edward Pisano and the student-musicians for their participation in community events, including the Port Jefferson Village’s annual Dicken’s Festival, performing at local churches and the public library, local businesses as well as the winter concert at the high school. The students were each presented with a certificate of appreciation for their musical efforts.

Dr. Caravello then took a moment for special recognition of students Jack Reilly and Peggy Yin, who participated in the New York State School Music Association All-State Winter Conference recently held in Rochester.
