Members of the High School International Club came up with a thoughtful fundraising project when they sold bagels and hot chocolate before and after school to raise money to create welcome bags for new students to the Port Jefferson School District. Under the direction of English as a Second Language teacher Ms. Jennifer Walling and school social worker Ms. Kristin Britt, who are co-advisers to the International Club, the students put together welcome letters and goodies to the recipients as a warm welcome as they navigate their new school. “This gesture points to the kindness of our students and the generosity that they want to share in making new friends and being sure that new classmates are comfortable in their new surroundings,” Ms. Walling said.
