Congratulations to seniors Aidan Kaminska and Kyra Sommerstad, who each signed a National Letter of Intent.

Aidan signed his Letter of Intent to play lacrosse at UMASS Amherst. He was a starring member of Port Jefferson’s lacrosse team as a junior, who were honored with the Suffolk County Lacrosse Coaches Association’s Crosse Award, and received individual accolades as an All-County player. He was also a member of the Royals varsity football team where he recently set a Section XI Suffolk County record, an honor that placed him on The New York State Public High School Athletic Association’s single game reception list.

Kyra, a member of the Three Village Swim Club, signed to swim for The Ohio State University. She won the New York State competition in the 200 Individual Medley (butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle) last year and the Suffolk County title for the 200 Individual Medley and backstroke this year and will head to the state competition. She has also qualified for the Olympic trials in the 100-yard backstroke. The trials will take place in Omaha, Nebraska next June.

“We are honored to have these two students represent our school district as they go forward in their athletic and academic goals,” Adam Sherrard, the district’s Director of Health, Physical Education and Athletics said. “We commend their families and coaches for their support during their high school years and further encouragement as they move on to the next levels of athletic achievement.”
