Students in Port Jefferson Middle School joined schools across the nation to share a powerful message against bullying behavior on Unity Day on Oct. 23. By wearing something orange, a vibrant color that is associated with safety and visibility, the students were excited to share in promoting their important message. The theme of the day was to unite against bullying and all social studies classes in the school viewed a powerful and informative Powerpoint and video presentation, detailing the nationally recognized event. “We show solidarity with all schools in sharing with our students the message that we’re together against bullying and united for kindness, acceptance and inclusion,” said teacher Ms. Monica Consalvo, who annually coordinates the schoolwide campaign.
