Praised for its high academic achievement, student growth, graduation rate and progress during the last academic year, Earl L. Vandermeulen High School has been named a 2018-19 Recognition School by the New York State Education Department.

Recognition Schools are identified for being among the highest achieving schools under the state’s Every Student Succeeds Act for performance and for student growth and/or graduation rates. Earl L. Vandermeulen is among the schools named that have also met or exceeded measures of interim progress for English language arts and mathematics, lower rates of chronic absenteeism, and college, career and civic readiness.

“This honor is a testament to the unwavering commitment of our educators, administrators, staff, parents, and most importantly our students,” Jessica Schmettan, assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction said. “Their efforts are an integral part in this recognition.”
