Members of the high school Interact Club recently took part in a Habitat for Humanity Student Build. The 15 students were selected to work on a new home in Bellport, where they diligently installed new fencing around the property, helping to ready the home for the family who will be moving in later this year.

The students raised $1,500 for Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk, some of it coming from a cheesecake fundraiser they held and some coming from donations.

“The experience was truly a rewarding one,” adviser Deirdre Filippi said. “In addition to learning some new skills, the students really came away with a sense of accomplishment while understanding how they can help to strengthen the greater community.”
