The Earl L. Vandermeulen High School boys and girls varsity lacrosse teams recently hosted their annual youth clinic for the Port Jefferson Village Lacrosse Association. In addition to the hard work and enjoyment of all the students involved, Taylor Forstell, head coach for the boys varsity team, noted the importance of the event as a continuation of the development of the younger players, as they are the cornerstone of the program’s progress.

“Events like this puts faces to the jerseys of the varsity athletes, whom our youth athletes come out to support,” he said. The mutual benefits to both players and volunteers was also expressed by senior captain Jonathan Moshe, who said “it is a great motivator for younger athletes to continue to work at the sport. Their efforts will help to make the lacrosse programs stronger in the years to come.”
