Sixth Grade Skating Trip: Formulas, Fractions and Fun
Port Jefferson Middle School sixth-graders took a STEM field trip to the United Skates of America in Seaford and attended lessons and hands-on activities that directly related to what they are learning in their classroom. They then roller skated and continued to grasp the science of roller skating, the laws of motion and even how the rink is designed. “This event really helped students grasp how STEM principles are a part of our everyday lives,” said math teacher Megan Ryan. “It was a great educational opportunity to learn and even get some physical activity.”
