Making an Impact Locally and Globally
The Port Jefferson Middle School National Junior Honor Society recently hosted a shoe drive for the Soles4Souls initiative.
Along with advisers English teacher Kayleen Everitt and special
education teacher Christina Marino, the ambitious project resulted in
collecting more than 120 pairs of shoes for the organization that serves
people around the world by providing shoes and clothing in addition to
helping to disrupt the cycle of poverty.
“Our students used community engagement to provide new opportunities for
those in need while have a positive impact on the environment,” Ms.
Marino said. “Their participation in the project is helping to nurture
their future leadership skills.”
