The Mathematical Association of America has recognized senior Annalisa Welinder and sophomore Grant Samara for their achievement in the American Math Competition 12 and AMC 10, respectively. The exam, which was administered nationwide, consisted of 25 multiple-choice questions to be answered in 60 minutes. The main purpose of the AMC 12 is to spur interest in mathematics and develop talent through the excitement of solving challenging problems.

The AMC 10 covers the high school curriculum up to 10th grade. The AMC 12, open to high school seniors, covers the entire high school curriculum including trigonometry, advanced algebra, and advanced geometry, but excluding calculus.

“We are so proud of the accomplishments of Grant and Annalisa,” math teacher Dennis Christofor said. “These exams help further their analytical skills and are a great opportunity to continue to master their mathematical talents.”
