Earl L. Vandermeulen High School’s high-spirited and entertaining spring
musical gave the audience history lessons and glimpses into New York
lifestyles and landmarks when the Drama Club showcased “Celebrate New
York” a musical tribute to the Empire State on the school’s stage.
Directed by Tony Butera, the unique look at all things New York
highlighted the fast pace of Manhattan, the competitive rehearsals for
Broadway shows, the birthplace of Teddy Roosevelt and how we came to
know the teddy bear. It also chronicled historic events and venues,
tourism, the rush for morning coffee and so much more. The production’s
talented students even gave a nod to several of the district’s own who
have achieved notable recognition after graduation from the high school.
Once again, the hard work, dedication and months of planning and
rehearsals were met with positive reviews for the actors, musical
performers, stage and costume crews and Mr. Butera!
