The Port Jefferson Royals entered the Section XI county wrestling tournament at Center Moriches High School on a mission. The mission was simple: Be relentless in the pursuit of victory. No matter the circumstance or score, the Royal wrestlers never quit.

Their perseverance paid off.

Seven wrestlers from PJ Nation finished the tournament with All-County honors.

Seniors Harry Cona, Rick D’Elia, Ryan Robertson and Brendan Rogers, juniors Lucas Rohman and Anthony D’Elia, and freshman Anthony Evangelista all finished near the top of their weight classes.

“Having one-third of your team finish as the top wrestlers in the county says a lot about the dedication, discipline and desire our wrestlers and coaches put forth on a daily basis,” Athletic Director Adam Sherrard said.

Rick D’Elia also placed first at the county meet at 113 lbs. and qualified for the New York State wrestling championships, in which he finished fourth overall.
