Six Honored for Contributions to Athletic Program
Six members of the Port Jefferson School District community were honored
at the Feb. 28 Board of Education meeting for their dedication and
contributions to the district’s athletic department.
Athletic Director Adam Sherrard addressed the Board of Education and
commended administrative assistant Cathy Hoffman, athletic trainer Eric
Fells and groundskeeper Rich Lautato for their self-motivated and
tireless efforts in being sure all activities, games and events through
the department are properly put in place. Also honored were students
Reid Biondo and Mattea Rabeno and teacher Dawn DeLeonardis for their
commitment and initiatives in sharing the mindfulness program to the
school community.
After the recognition, Mr. Sherrard shared with the Board updates on the
district’s Wellness Policy including positive effects of exercise on
the body, data on the vending machines’ healthier offerings and
approvals for more creative fundraising ideas that sell nutritious foods
and drinks and encourage more physical activities.
