The Port Jefferson Board of Education has been very active in its search for the next Superintendent of Schools. The Board has contracted with Eastern Suffolk Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) to assist with the search and selection process.

As of this date, a number of steps have been completed: a recruitment brochure and advertisements were developed and distributed; interested parties were sent packets which included an application; and employees and community members were asked for input on the desired qualities of the next Superintendent.

Applicants were prescreened by Eastern Suffolk BOCES and completed applications were forwarded to the Board to review. This week, the Board of Education will begin interviewing candidates they have selected from the initial screening.

The Board of Education is grateful to the school community for participating in the survey and community forum and for providing such valuable input for the Board to consider in the selection process.
