When students, peers and adults recognize and respond to bullying behavior, a powerful message is sent that it is not acceptable. To share in that message, middle schoolers wore orange to signify their stance on Unity Day on Oct. 24.

The theme of the day was to unite against bullying and all social studies classes in the school viewed a Powerpoint and video presentation, detailing the nationally recognized event that promotes kindness, acceptance and inclusion.

Seventh-grade teacher Monica Consalvo, who annually coordinates the schoolwide campaign, helps to reinforce the strong message of anti-bullying programs.

“We want students to embrace Unity Day’s message and make the commitment to be accepting of people’s differences,” she said.
