The district’s ENL department welcomed newcomers and current students and their families to a festive celebration of food and fun at the elementary school. With a multicultural menu and handmade sushi rolls shaped as the popular Minion character, the families had an opportunity to learn about the Port Jefferson School District community and tips and resources on how to participate in their child’s education.

Welcomed by ENL teachers Mary Lyons, Christina Marino, Regina Paquette and Jennifer Walling, and with Superintendent of Schools Dr. Paul Casciano, high school Principal Christine Austen, middle school Principal Dr. Robert Neidig and Assistant Principal Claudia Smith present, it was an informative evening. A representative from the Port Jefferson Public Library also conducted a presentation about the resources it offers.

The K-12 students enjoyed their time together both at the dinner and in the gymnasium for some friendly and sociable activities and the newcomers were gifted with Port Jefferson sweatshirts courtesy of the high school’s International Club.
