Ten students from the SEAL program took part in the 2018 Suffolk County Math Olympiad Competition recently held at Stony Brook University.

The competition for the top five fourth-grade and the top five fifth-grade Olympiad students from Port Jefferson was an opportunity to learn important strategies for problem-solving.

Student Jinah Kwak won third place in the fifth-grade division, Max Kronberg won third place in the fourth-grade division, Tucker Stanton won second place in the fourth-grade division, and the fourth-grade team won third place in the fourth-grade team competition.

The fourth-grade team members are Matthew Cadicamo, Anbang Jiang, Max Kronberg, Evan Raymond and Tucker Stanton, and the fifth-grade team members are Isabelle Chen, Aoife Hogan, Jinah Kwak, Alice Snyder and Emily Snyder.

“These top Math Olympians showcased their problem-solving skills with dedication and determination,” said SEAL teacher Kate Zvokel. “I applaud their efforts and hard work to make Port Jefferson proud. We all had a great time at the competition.”
