Empowering a community of leaders and advocates
Ten students from the high school attended the 22nd annual Long Island LGBT Conference at Stony Brook University.
Accompanied by co-advisers Kristin Britt and Dinarae Camarda, members of
the school’s Gay Straight Alliance spent the day attending workshops on
topics including LGBT history, community and youth organizing, health
and social justice.
“This event is a stronghold for student leaders,” Britt said. “In
addition to learning and sharing in a safe and supportive environment,
it empowers them to navigate and advocate for positive social and
health-related choices.”
