Five students honored for physical education leadership
Five students from the School District were named Elementary and Middle
School Suffolk Zone Award honorees by the New York State Association of
Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. They were honored at a
ceremony at Bay Shore High School.
Fifth-graders Joseph Aronica, Julia Fite and Olivia Masino and
eighth-graders Lucy DeWitt and Richard Melucci were chosen by their
physical education teachers for demonstrating strong leadership and
character traits in physical education as well as a commitment to
academics.
“These students exemplify the core leadership values of our school and
athletic community,” said Dr. Danielle Turner, the district’s director
of health, physical education and athletics. “This honor recognizes
their collective commitment to physical education and serving as role
models for their peers.”
