In a continuing effort to promote literacy, students at the elementary school were treated to a special guest performance by magician Tommy James. The high-energy combination of music, sound effects, jokes and an overall message of the importance of reading and the valuable resources a library has to offer was a learning opportunity for the K-5 students. At the end of his performance, all the students were asked to stand and take the “Readers Oath” to read each and every day. He then surprised them with the magical appearance of a live bunny on stage.

“As always, we want students to know that reading can be fun, educational and relaxing all at the same time,” said librarian Selinda Stout. “The experience taught them that books help us to discover the world around us.”
