Students at the elementary school had the opportunity to share their
writings with their families, teachers, administrators and Board of
Education members during a recent Young Authors Celebration.
Students from grades K-5 had their published works available for reading
and comments, and the many subjects they wrote about was a clear
indication of the school’s achievements in this academic discipline.
Following the celebration, many of the parents attended the Board of
Education meeting where Claudia Smith, pre-K-grade 8 assistant
principal, conducted a presentation on the students’ progress with the
structured writing program of Fundations and Columbia Teachers College
Reading and Writing Project.
