During its mid-February meeting, the Board of Education made a special recognition to members of the high school for their collective efforts in having the building named a Reward School by the New York State Education Department, an honor that it has achieved consecutively since the 2012-13 academic year.

During the meeting, Vice President Mark Doyle spoke on behalf of the entire Board of Education, and congratulated the administration, staff and students of the high school for its commitment to educational excellence and outstanding student performance.

The school was one of only 155 schools across New York State to receive the Reward School recognition this year. The high school annually boasts numerous Advanced Placement Scholars, and National Merit Semifinalists and Commended Students, in addition to many athletic, musical, civic and volunteer accomplishments of its students.
