Port Jeff Royal fans have some exciting players to pay attention this fall season as seniors Jack Collins and Joey Evangelista were named to Newsday's 100 High School Players in Suffolk County to Watch for the 2017 football season.

Jack was an All-League player for Port Jefferson as a junior and has been a varsity player for the team since his sophomore year. Last year, he passed for 750 yards and threw 14 touchdown passes.  He is the team’s coach on the field and is also hoping to play on the college level next year.

Joey, who serves as a team captain, was an All-County selection for Port Jefferson as a junior.  According to coach Andrew Cosci, Joey is one of the toughest players that he has ever coached. He ended up rushing for 850 yards last year, averaging 5.6 yards per carry. He was also a leader on defense, making plenty of big hits throughout the season. He plans to play college football when his high school carrier is over.

“Having two young men like Jack and Joey makes a head coach’s job a little easier,” said Cosci. “They have embraced their leadership roles and are continuously pushing themselves and the other players to get better every day. We look forward to a great season!”
