Working to turn Port Jeff Royals youth football into a powerhouse program, the players will join the varsity football team for Purple/White Day tomorrow, Saturday, Aug. 26, from 5-7 p.m. on the high school football field.

This special event will give the younger players an opportunity to learn from the varsity team members in a small clinic setting.

“The goal is to engage the younger students and help them improve their skills,” said Danielle Turner, director of health, physical education and athletics. “We want them to transition from youth football to competitive interscholastic sports by encouraging their working together with the varsity team.”

The community is invited to come down for this end-of-summer event that helps kick off the fall season.

The varsity team’s first game of the season is away, against Miller Place on Friday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m.
