Members of the middle school cross-country team exhibited outstanding athletic abilities at the Section XI meet held at Sunken Meadow State Park on Oct. 20.

During the meet, eighth-grader Brian Veit showed extreme skill by taking first place overall against 200 competitors with a time of 8:37.77. Teammate Owen Okst placed 14th with a time of 9:14.08.

The girls also held their own, with team members Anastasia Geelan finishing 52nd with a time of 11:04.12 and Evelyn Walker placing 61st with a time of 11:19.43. Also running was Heidi Beidenkapp, who placed 67th, and Kate Sommerstand, who finished 69th.
