Three high school seniors — Anita Rescia, Chiara Rabeno and Amanda Sarubbi — have been named Commended Students in the 2017 National Merit Scholarship Program as a result of their outstanding scores on the qualifying exam.

The seniors are among approximately 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation recognized for their exceptional academic promise. To earn the title, they placed among the top 5 percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the competition by taking the PSAT.

Anita is a member of the high school’s Latin Club, Environmental Club and National Honor Society and intends to study languages in college. Chiara, who plays field hockey, softball and basketball and is a member of the school’s Latin Club, Environmental Club and Science Olympiad Team, plans to begin a pre-med tract next fall. Amanda, who also plans to study pre-med, is a captain of the school’s Mathletes team, captain of the varsity swim team and secretary of the jazz band.
