Five seventh- and eighth-grade students from the middle school paid musical tribute to those who lost their lives on Sept. 11 by giving a moving performance during the Port Jefferson Fire Department’s annual 9/11 memorial service.

The students, Jack Reilly, Grant Samara, Nicole Schully, Noah Teaney and Lucas Welinder, led by music teacher and volunteer firefighter Christian Neubert, performed “The Star-Spangled Banner” and “God Bless America” at the somber ceremony.

The event was attended by members of the community and the Port Jefferson School District Board of Education and administration.
