A science lesson on amphibians came to life for Edna Louise Spear Elementary School fourth-graders through an interactive frog workshop taught by two elementary parents on May 26.

During the workshop, Dr. Gerald Thomsen, a professor of biochemistry and cell biology, and Julia Todorov Thomsen, a marine environmental scientist, shared their expertise and provided several hands-on activities for the students. The young scientists were able to view frog eggs, embryos and tadpoles through a fluorescent microscope and handle adult African clawed frogs.
