Elementary Students Recognized by BOE
Elementary school students received recognition from the Port Jefferson School District’s Board of Education during a meeting on April 12.
Among the students presented with certificates were fifth-grader and double bassist Alexa Ayotte, who earned a Dr. Joel Ratner Memorial SCMEA music scholarship; Sophie Blumenthal, a fifth-grader who competed at the Long Island Regional Scripps Spelling Bee at Hofstra University; and six students, Amy Whitman, Kenneth Dixon-Lanza, Teppei Fukuto, Benjamin Perez-Flesler, Viviane Kim and Michael Melikyan, who will be participating in the National History Bee finals on April 20 in Connecticut.
