To mark Dr. Seuss’ birthday and Read Across America Day, students and staff at the elementary school participated in a number of celebratory activities on March 2.

Throughout the day, students, wearing Cat in the Hat hats and striped clothing, listened to Dr. Seuss books read by guest readers, including News 12 meteorologist Rich Hoffman and Port Jefferson Village Mayor Margot Garant. Students also donated books, met with representatives from the Port Jefferson Public Library and took part in special classroom activities. For example, fifth-graders worked on writing a poem with kindergarteners and special education students made oobleck after reading, “Bartholomeu and the Oobleck.”
