Ten middle school students have qualified to compete at the regional level of the National History Bee, which will be held in Darien, Connecticut, on April 20.

The students — Aaron Held, Ameen Khan, Andrew Patterson, Sapphire Perada, Mattea Rabeno, Micheala Rabeno, Grant Samara, Pina Than, Lucas Welinder and Peggy Yin — were selected to advance based on their scores on the online qualifying exam.

Seventh-grader Welinder also earned the title of schoolwide bee champion, and this will be his second time at the regional competition. As a sixth-grader, he advanced to the national round.

The Port Jefferson School District extends its congratulations to all of the National History Bee regional qualifiers.
