Three varsity girls tennis team athletes competed at the Suffolk County tennis individual championships, held on Oct. 17 at William Floyd High School in Shirley.

The students earned their way into the competition after defeating some tough teams during the season. The Port Jefferson doubles team, comprised of Danielle Goldstein and Rebekah London, was one of 16 doubles teams to make it to the championship game, and first singles player Rachel Collins returned to the championship for the third year in a row as one of the top 16 singles players in the county.

The three seniors also led their entire team, coached by Dennis Christofor, to the Suffolk County team playoffs as the ninth seeded team of the 53 participating schools countywide.
