The Port Jefferson Board of Education has named Leonard Bozza as the middle school’s interim principal while the district conducts a search for a new principal.

Mr. Bozza previously served as both an interim secondary assistant principal and interim high school principal for Port Jefferson following his retirement from the Longwood School District, where he served for many years as the high school principal.

“We are fortunate to have Mr. Bozza’s experience and knowledge base available to us as we conduct our process to identify an exemplary candidate to recommend to the Board for permanent appointment,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kenneth Bossert.

In addition, the Board has named Carmen Iannotti as interim director of special education while it searches for a permanent appointment. Like Mr. Bozza, Mr. Iannotti previously worked in the district, having served in the same capacity in the 2012-2013 school year.

“Mr. Iannotti’s extensive experience and insight into our students and programs will be an asset to all during this time of transition,” said Dr. Bossert.

Mr. Bozza can be reached at 631-791-4431 and Mr. Iannotti can be reached at 631-791-4241.
