PJTA Deliver Meals and Thanks to Healthcare Workers
On behalf of the entire Port Jefferson School District, the Port Jefferson Teachers Association delivered 150 meals to Mather Hospital and 75 meals to Stony Brook University Hospital. More than $600 was raised for this ongoing meal drive from all units of employees of the Port Jefferson School District. A special thanks to Mr. Omar Karasu, (Port Jeff’s junior varsity football assistant coach and permanent substitute) who is also a chef. Mr. Karasu helped to coordinate matching contributions from The Bench Bar and Grill and Sweet Mama’s, both in Stony Brook, as well as delivered the meals along with technology teacher and high school drama director Mr. Anthony Butera. The PJmealdrive fund has continued to receive donations and is planning another delivery. In addition, the PJTA continues to run a food drive with all donations going to the Infant Jesus Food Pantry.
