Middle School Students and Staff Honored by BOE
To recognize the commitment and hard work of two students in Port Jefferson Middle School, they were honored by the Board of Education at a recent meeting. Principal Dr. Neidig spoke of the pride that sixth grade students Lexi Veruto and Gianna Viviano took in assisting with a presentation in the school’s Family and Consumer Science class. Each student took turns presenting to the Board members various aspects of the class including kitchen safety, careers and budgeting, taught by teacher Ms. Camille Doherty. Dr. Neidig also thanked Ms. Doherty for her efforts in adopting best practices for the class and tailoring it to meet the needs of students. Teaching assistant Mrs. Jennifer Mezzatesta was also recognized for her positive influence on students, her strong connections and communication expertise with the district’s ENL families and her professionalism and devotion to the school community.
