Earl L. Vandermeulen High School students are so often up for a challenge. Recently, 31 of them tested themselves by participating in the American Math Competition 10 and 12. The AMC 10 and 12 are both 25-question, 75-minute, multiple-choice examinations in high school mathematics designed to promote the development and enhancement of problem-solving skills. The AMC 10 covers the high school curriculum up to 10th grade. The AMC 12, open to high school seniors, covers the entire high school curriculum, including trigonometry, advanced algebra and advanced geometry, but excluding calculus. According to math teacher Mr. Dennis Christofor, the exams help students further their analytical skills and are a great opportunity to continue to master their mathematical talents.
